Nakagawa Sakura

Violin / Japan

She has studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts under Prof. Natsumi Tamai, DongSuk Kang, Tsugio Tokunaga and Seiji Kageyama, and she was awarded “Doseikai Award” from the Tokyo University of the Arts when she graduate there. Currently she is studying at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe as a DAAD Scholorshipholder under Prof. Josef Rissin, and also studying at the Accademia Stauffer under Prof. Salvatore Accardo.

Sakura Nakagawa has won a variety of prizes for her violin and piano playing at numerous competitions including the 1st Prize at the Beten Music Competition, 1st Prize and received “Governor of Osaka Prefecture Prize” at the Miotsukushi Music Festival, 1st Prize at the Shiga Piano Competition, 2nd Prize at the Japan Student Music Competition in Osaka, 2nd Prize (top place) at the Japan Classical Music Competition, and 3rd Prize at the Kyoto Piano Competition.

In 2013 and 2014, She was awarded “Shiga Prefectural assembly chairpersonʼs Award”, and performed her piano at the “La Fole Journée in Japan 2013 and 2014”. In 2018, She performed her violin at the “32th Kyoto Art Festival” and received “Audience Award” and “The Mainichi Newspaperʼs Prize”. In 2021, She was awarded “Heiwado Foundation Art Encouragement Award Music Category” from Heiwado Foundation. In 2022, She performed at the “Shiga prefecture Shin-Jin Concert” and awarded “Grand Prize”.

In 2024, She won 2nd Prize and Bärenreiter Praha Music Publisher Prize at the 59th Beethoven Hradec International Competition. She was awarded ”Florian Leonhard Prize” at the Engers Academy 2025, and ”Brahms Prize” at the Carl Flesch Academy 2025. In Recently she performed Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Janáčkova filharmonie Ostrava in Czech, Jenaer Philharmonie and Philharmonie Baden-Baden in Germany.
