Jorge Suárez Cerdeira (born in 1999, Vigo, Spain) is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe under Professor László Fenyő. He previously completed his Bachelor’s degree at Forum Musikae, where he studied with María Casado and worked regularly in chamber music with the Cuarteto Casals.
He has performed in international festivals such as Rutesheim Cello Festival Akademie, Allegro Vivo Musik Festival Austria, Festival Academy Budapest, and Festival Peregrinos Musicales, receiving masterclasses from artists including Jens Peter Maintz, Gary Hoffman, Kyril Zlotnikov, Sebastian Klinger, and Thomas Grossenbacher.
As an orchestral musician, Jorge regularly performs as a substitute cellist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, and has collaborated with ensembles such as the Munich Classical Players, Orquesta Filarmonía de Madrid, and Ensemble Soncello. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Orquesta Sinfónica ESMAR and the Orquesta de Cámara de Tui.
He is a prizewinner of several competitions, including the Concurso Internacional Soncello, Concurso Ciudad de Vigo, and the Peregrinos Musicales Competition, where he received the special award for Best Galician Performer.
Jorge plays a cello made by Lorenzo Ventapane (1815), generously loaned by the Baden-Württemberg Streichinstrumente Landessammlung.
