On 14 September, on the day of the birthday of Michał Spisak, a composer from Dąbrowa Górnicza and our patron, a concert was held to open the 5th Michał Spisak International Festival, featuring German pianist Christoph Soldan and the Silesian Chamber Quintet – Dariusz Zboch (violin), Jakub Łysik (violin), Jarosław Marzec (viola), Katarzyna Biedrowska (cello) and Dawid Lewandowski (double bass).
Before the concert began, the festival was officially opened by Grzegorz Drygała, Director of the Zagłębie Palace of Culture, and Prof. Roman Widaszek, Artistic Director of the Festival.
The programme of the birthday concert included Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, KV 414, Grażyna Bacewicz’s Oberek, Witold Lutosławski’s 5 Folk Melodies for String Orchestra, and Vivalian arranged by Dariusz Zboch.
The concert was partnered by the Metropolis GZM.
