Diego Ignacio Alvarado Sánchez was born in Anzoátegui, Venezuela, in 2005. He began his musical studies at the age of nine in El Tigre, at one of the orchestral centers of Venezuela’s National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs. There, he received his initial musical training and basic instruction as a violist. He later secured a spot to continue his musical education at the “Simón Bolívar” Superior Music Conservatory.
However, some time later, due to the socioeconomic and political situation in his home country, he emigrated to Concepción, Chile. He continued his studies there at the Laurencia Contreras Lema Music Conservatory under the guidance of Professor Claudio Cofré Flores. Thanks to this solid foundation, he’s been able to participate in various festivals and competitions that are now a significant part of his experience as a violist. These include the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the “Jóvenes Talentos” (CORCUDEC and AICU) International Competition, where he also earned second place in its 13th edition.
Currently, he’s pursuing the Basic Undergraduate Stage at the University of Chile. He’s studying under the distinguished viola pedagogue Carola Fredes Henríquez, where he aims to perfect his technique as a string instrumentalist and deepen his musical knowledge.
