Deng was born in 1997 in Taipei, Taiwan. He was initially under the tutelage of Ma Yue, Pei-Yun Lin. He has been playing with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra since April 2021. In November 2020, he won the selection to the WDR 3 (West German Broadcasting Radio Cologne) Campus Concert and played a solo recital. WDR recorded the recital and post the live recording to its website. He was also a semi-finalist of the Mercadante International Competition in 2019. When he studied in Singapore, he was also a freelance clarinettist in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra between 2017-2019.
In 2016, Deng was given a golden opportunity to perform with the Takács String Quartet, with whom he played the Brahms Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet in B minor, Op.115. Deng is currently studying with Prof. Nicola Jürgensen at the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen (Germany). Prior to this, he was under the four-year full scholarship program in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore, graduating with honours with the Bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance.
