Teresa Gąsieniec is a cellist born in Oława in 2004. She graduated from the Karol Szymanowski General Music School in Wrocław in 2023, receiving the title of Graduate of the Year. She is currently a second-year undergraduate student at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź in the class of Professor Stanisław Firlej.
She has honed her skills at workshops in Poland and abroad, including the Winter Academy of Music in Lusławice, the Zenon Brzewski International Music Courses in Łańcut, and the Kronberg Cello Academy in Germany, studying under artists such as Tomasz Strahl, Marcin Zdunik, Andrzej Orkisz, Kazimierz Michalik, Jacob Shaw, Danjulo Ishizaka, and Marcus Nyikos.
She is a laureate of 40 prizes at national and international competitions, including five Grand Prix awards and fifteen first prizes. Among her most significant achievements are the First Prize and Overall Winner title at the Jan Vychytil International Cello Competition in Prague and the Grand Prix at the National Cello Competition organized by the Centre for Artistic Education. Her recent successes include the Platinum Award at the Mozart International Competition, Second Prize at the Vienna Classical Music Competition in the chamber music category, and First Prize at the national auditions along with a nomination to participate in the Lions Club Competition Thomas KUTI, which will take place in November in Dublin.
She has been awarded eleven scholarships from the City of Wrocław and is also a scholarship holder of the Young in Łódźprogram, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Young Poland program, the Gifted Program of the National Children’s Fund, and the Talent Bank. She has performed at various festivals such as the MELOS Festival, Mlada Praha, and the Piła Festival & Academy, where in 2019 she received the titles of “Musical Personality” and “Young Talent” as the youngest participant. In August 2022, she took part in Masterclasses in Switzerland with Danjulo Ishizaka, where she won an award — a concert with an orchestra in Konstanz, Germany.
