Ziyu Liao (Leo) is a violinist of Chinese origin, and he began his violin studies at the age of five. As an outstanding graduate from Eastman School of Music studying with Oleh Krysa and Renée Jolles, Ziyu is currently pursuing a Master Degree of Music at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste under the guidance of Rudolf Koelman. 

Alongside with the conservatory study, Ziyu also actively participated in music festivals, such as International Summer Academy in Austria and Schloss Akademie in Germany. He took part in master classes with prestigious violinists including Dora Schwarzberg, Mark Gothoni, Andrey Baranov, Tanja Becker-Bender, and Itamar Zorman.

Other than pursuing his violinist career as a soloist, Ziyu is enthusiastic in chamber music and orchestra as well. Having played music from various eras, his chamber repertoire contains Haydn, Beethoven, Dvorak, Smetana, and Shostakovich etc. From 2015 to 2020, he held the position of concertmaster in Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra. He is also invited to join the Schweizer Jugend Sinfonie-Orchester as well as the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. In the seaon of 2025/26, Ziyu will play as an intern in the Berner Symphineorcheser.
