Demonstrating significant talent, he gained admission to the highly selective Music Middle School Affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2021 at the age of 12. That same year, his early promise was recognized at the Hangzhou-Liangzhu International (Youth) String Music Festival, where he was honored as an outstanding student for his excellent performance.

Yifu quickly established himself as a dedicated chamber musician. In 2022, his piano trio achieved notable recognition when their prepared program, “阳关三叠” (a parting tune with a thrice repeated refrain), was selected for broadcast by the renowned Shanghai radio program “Classic 947 – Exploring Classics”. He also showcased his skills on significant institutional stages, performing in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s “Help Music Talent to Fly” program concert held at the Shangyin Opera House. Further solidifying his ensemble credentials, he performed with his piano trio as part of the grand celebrations for the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s 95th anniversary.

His performance trajectory continued to rise in 2023. He received an invitation to perform at the East China Normal University’s “Conservatory of Music Educational Achievement Exhibition Concert” as part of the prestigious Shanghai Spring International Music Festival. Expanding his reach, he participated in a concert program organized by the internationally recognized “Lang Lang International Music Foundation”. Additionally, his chamber ensemble was invited to perform at the concert commemorating the 73rd anniversary of The Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

The year 2025 marked a significant milestone in Yifu’s young career. He achieved top honors by winning the Platinum Prize in the Age 14-17 Group at the European Classical Music Strings Award, a testament to his exceptional skill and artistry on the viola. Continuing his ascent, in June 2025, Yifu performed as a soloist with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, presenting Max Bruch’s Double Concerto for Viola and Clarinet in E minor. Furthermore, in July 2025, Yifu was admitted with a full scholarship to the renowned Morningside Music Bridge summer program, an intensive international training initiative for exceptionally gifted young classical musicians.

Yifu Miao combines technical proficiency with musical sensitivity, evidenced by his competition success, solo appearances with major orchestras, consistent chamber music activity, and selection for elite training programs. His dedication to the viola is complemented by diverse personal interests, including bead stringing, hip hop music, and basketball.
