Ni Hanwen

Viola / China

Hanwen Ni, born in 1999 in China, is a Chinese violist currently pursuing his Master of Music degree at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. Since April 2023, he has been studying under the guidance of Professors Diyang Mei and Walter Küssner. He previously completed his Bachelor’s degree in Music at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in Hangzhou, China, where he studied from2018 to 2022.

Most recently, he was selected to participate in the 2025 Markneukirchen International Viola Competition.

His musical development has been enriched by participating in masterclasses with renowned violists such as Nobuko Imai, Thomas Riebl, Hariolf Schlichtig, Wilfried Strehle, Nils Mönkemeyer, Peijun Xu, and Veit Hertenstein.

Hanwen currently performs on a viola made by Bortolami Obici in 1667, generously provided to himon loan.
