Orkiestra Symfoniczna Młodej Filharmonii Międzyszkolnej (literal translation from Polish: Symphony Orchestra of the Inter-School Young Philharmonic) – the ensemble shapes the professional performance skills of young music students. The musicians perform works that are part of the canon of art music literature – from the Baroque period to contemporary music. The project integrates the community of young musicians from the Podbeskidzie, Silesia, and Zagłębie regions, who actively participate in the life of the music schools in these areas. The ensemble is composed of musicians studying at the Stanisław Moniuszko State Music School Complex in Bielsko-Biała, the Music School Complex in Sosnowiec, and the State Music School Complex in Żory. The orchestra realizes artistic events reaching out to school and local communities, as well as those with a regional and national scope. The concerts take place in concert halls and other venues that are conducive to the performance of art music.
In April 2024, the orchestra participated in workshops at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Centre in Lusławice. During the workshops, the young musicians received training under the guidance of Elżbieta Tomczyńska (the Music School Complex in Sosnowiec), Michał Pradela (the State Music School Complex in Żory), Zuzanna Hajda (the Music School Complex in Sosnowiec), Marta Huget-Skiba (AUKSO), Jakub Witek (the State Music School Complex in Żory), Ewa Sidor (the Music School Complex in Sosnowiec), Adam Krzeszowiec (Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra), Aleksander Lasoń (AM Katowice), and Maciej Cisowski (the Music School Complex in Sosnowiec – the State Music School Complex in Żory).
The orchestra’s activities initiate a new tradition for the schools, contributing to the ongoing concert activities of both the institutions and the cities in which they are located. Since its inception in 2020, the orchestra has been conducted by Maciej Cisowski. Since then, the ensemble has regularly performed in a symphonic setting. The performances of the young music students, presented at numerous concerts, have gained recognition from both the public and critics.
