SONOS QUARTET

These are four personalities, four different instruments and temperaments. In the ensemble, the flute expands the sonoristic possibilities of the group of string instruments with its sound. And the group itself is unique – it is the core of the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, well-known in Poland and Europe. The members of the SONOS QUARTET have performed with this orchestra and other musical groups at important music festivals, such as the Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum and the Film Music Festival. They have given concerts in Poland, Europe and beyond. They have honed their skills in solo, chamber and orchestral playing at postgraduate studies and masterclasses (including those in Strasbourg and London) conducted by eminent pedagogues such as Wanda Wiłkomirska, Kurt Levin and Christoph Wyneken. The instrumentalists have many recordings of contemporary, classical and film music for Polish and foreign labels to their credit. They are laureates of international solo and chamber music competitions and recipients of scholarships from, among others, the Minister of Culture and the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship. Apart from concerts, which introduce the audience to interesting arrangements of classical works, the ensemble is involved in projects combining music with words and dance, exploring new musical areas. It is worth mentioning the musical fairy tale titled ‘The History of a Certain Melody’ or the Flamenco Project.  With these projects, the Sonos Quartet has performed at the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mediateka or Radio Katowice, among others. SONOS QUARTET took part in a performance on the occasion of the World Youth Days entitled “Święty z Wadowic- Jan Paweł II”, directed by Michał Zabłocki, cooperating with, among others, Czesław Mozil, Natalia Niemen, Magda Steczkowska, Andrzej Lampert, Kuba Badach.
