26 June 2018

RAISE YOUR INSTRUMENTS!

The participants of this year’s edition of 12th Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza kept the organisers in suspense until the last day for sending applications. Two days before the end of recruitment the approximate number of forms that would be sent was still unknown; however, as of June 25, there were 70 applications to the competition!

We are very pleased with the fact that the competition is becoming increasingly popular with foreign musicians who sent 31 out of 68 applications. Among the contenders for the master’s title are individuals e.g. from Italy, Czech Republic, China, Japan, Portugal, Venezuela, Taiwan and Great Britain.

This year, the competition is directed to instrumentalists playing the bassoon, French horn and double bass. 26 bassoonists, 22 French horn players and 22 double bass players applied for the competition respectively. All of them will take part in the musical competition under the eye of the international jury chaired by prof. zw. dr hab. Wiesław Grochowski.

The auditions will begin on the following day after the Inaugural Concert, i.e. on September 15. At the first stage of the competition twelve best contenders in each instrument will be selected and at the second stage only four who will take part in the final concerts planned for September 20-22.  The young masters will be accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Zabrze Philharmonic under Sławomir Chrzanowski. The above-mentioned concerts will allow the jury to select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners and distinctions. We will hear the winners again during the concert of laureates on September 23 at 5:00 PM, once again accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Zabrze Philharmonic.
