Joana Soares
Young Portuguese oboist who studies at the National Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of David Walter and Frederic Tarda. Oboist at the National de Bretagne since 2021. After studying music at the Conservatório de Música da Jobra in the class of Jonathan Costa, Jean-Michel Garetti and Ana Madalena Silva, she obtained a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Aveiro in 2017 in the class of Jean-Michel Garetti. She has won numerous competitions of international stature – she won the first prize in the 13th Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza. In addition, she also won the first prize in the 32nd edition of the Prémio Jovens Músicos in Portugal, third prize in the International Competition of Young Oboe Artists – IDRS (Spain) and received an honourable mention in the Gillet-Fox Competition – IDRS (Florida, USA). She has performed as a soloist in Portugal with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Filamonia das Beiras Orchestra, the Aveiro University Orchestra and the Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras Orchestra, and in Poland with the Zabrze Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. She frequently plays in the Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa and has also performed with numerous orchestras including the Orchestre Philarmonique Radio France, Orchestre National Lyon, Orchestre National Opéra de Montpellier, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Bretagne.
