Marek Moś
Outstanding Polish conductor, violinist and chamber musician. Founder and artistic director of the AUKSO chamber orchestra, as well as artistic director of the “AUKSO Summer Philharmonic” festival in Wigry. Founder and for many years primarius of the Silesian Quartet – an ensemble that in a short time became one of the most outstanding string quartets in Europe. With the Silesian Quartet, he premiered around 30 Polish and foreign works, the vast majority of which were dedicated to the ensemble. The artist has made numerous recordings for Polish Radio and Television, as well as for record companies (CD Accord, Olympia, Patridge, Thesis, Wergo). Marek Moś is the winner of many awards, including: The Contemporary Music Competition in Cracow (1979), the UNESCO International Tribune in Paris (1984, 1988), the Polish Composers’ Union (1994, 2005), the Silver Medal “Merited to Culture Gloria Artis” (2005), or the Award of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship (2005). Apart from his intensive concert and recording activity, Marek Moś teaches at the K. Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
