Yaroslav Shemet

Conductor and Artistic Director of the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. One of the most acclaimed conductors of the young generation. Graduate of the Kharkiv Conservatory, in the class of choral conducting, and graduate (graduated with honours) and lecturer at the Ignacy Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (symphonic conducting) in the class of Professor Warcisław Kunc. He studied at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien (Vienna, Austria), in the class of Prof. Johannes Wildner. Laureate of many international piano and vocal competitions, including Milan and Theodosia. First Guest Conductor of the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg. In the 2020/2021 season, the Principal Conductor of the INSO-Lviv Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic in Lviv. He has collaborated with the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk, the Silesian Opera in Bytom (music direction) and the National Opera in Odessa (guest conductor). Founder of the Musique Moderne orchestra, specialising in contemporary music performance. Originator and artistic director of the Polish Symphony Orchestra, conductor and assistant to Oksana Lyniv – artistic director of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien (Vienna, Austria) in the class of Professor Johannes Wildner. Conducts masterclasses for conductors in Poznań, Lviv and Kharkov, among others. The spectrum of Yaroslav Shemet’s repertoire consists of both symphonic and opera music, contemporary music (more than 40 premieres) and participation in jazz projects. He has given concerts in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, China, Poland, and Ukraine, with ensembles such as the Prague Symphony, Philharmonie der Nationen, NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, Polish Baltic Philharmonic, Poznań Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic, Sudeten Philharmonic, Opole Philharmonic, Sepia Ensemble, Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, etc. He has performed at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Shanghai Grand Theatre or Harbin Opera House as well as at festivals in Bayreuth, Munich and Hong Kong. He has collaborated with outstanding soloists such as Lars Danielsson, Francesca Dego and Szymon Nehring.
