Zbigniew Zamachowski
Versatile, audience-acclaimed actor and composer of popular music. He has many roles in both film and theatre to his credit. He graduated from a secondary school of economics and a music school, and in 1985 he graduated from the Acting Department of the PWSFiT (State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre) in Łódź. During his studies, he performed with the Poznań cabaret TEY. In 1980, he won the second prize at the Opole Festival with his original song, and he has repeatedly taken part in the Przegląd Piosenki Aktorskiej (actors’ song review) in Wrocław. He performed songs from the repertoire of Kabaret Starszych Panów (Polish cabaret), songs by Agnieszka Osiecka, Jonasz Kofta, Wojciech Młynarski, Grzegorz Turnau, as well as his own compositions to original lyrics. In 1989 he played in a musical production of Magda Umer and Jeremi Przybora’s “Zimy żal” (Winter’s Sorrow), and in 1993 he performed at the Rampa Theatre with the popular musical play “Big Zbig Show”. On the big screen, he made his debut in 1981 in Krzysztof Rogulski’s “Wielka majówka”, where he appeared as an amateur in the wonderful role of Rysiek. After this movie was out, Zbigniew Zamachowski decided to apply to film school. He has played in films by Kazimierz Kutz (“Pułkownik Kwiatkowski”, “Zawrócony”, “Sława i chwała”), Krzysztof Kieślowski (“Dekalog 10″, “Trzy kolory: Biały”) and Andrzej Wajda, Wojciech Jerzy Hass, Jacek Bromski, Maciej Wojtyszko, Filip Bajon and Wojciech Marczewski, among others. He has won numerous awards, both Polish and foreign. He has received the award for the best actor in a leading role at the Polish Film Festival twice. The actor currently works at the National Theatre and also finds time for teaching – he is a lecturer of acting at the Theatre Academy in Warsaw. Since April 2008, he has been a member of the Council of the Foundation Centre of National Creativity.
