Graduated with honours from the piano class of Professor Andrzej Jasiński at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, continued her studies at the Zurich Conservatory under Homero Francesch. She studied at the Basel Academy of Music under Krystian Zimerman (1996 – 1998). Winning the 6th prize at the 13th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1995 opened doors for Magdalena Lisak to prestigious concert halls such as the Hitomi Memorial Hall in Tokyo, Stadt-Casino in Basel, Rudolfinum in Prague and the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. Her interpretations have been recorded for Deutsche Rundfunk, Radio Suisse Romande, Polskie Radio, Telewizja Polska and on CDs for DUX, Polskie Radio Katowice and CD Accord. She gives regular recitals and performs concerts with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Poland and most European countries, as well as the USA, Canada, Japan, China and Brazil. She has premiered works at, among others, the Silesian Days of Contemporary Music in Katowice and the Cracow International Festival of Composers. She has toured the UK twice, with the European Union Chamber Orchestra and the Toruń Chamber Orchestra. At the invitation of the Fryderyk Chopin National Institute, she undertook performances, as well as the recording of works by F. Chopin on the historical Erard instrument on a CD in the series The Real Chopin (2013). She carries out artistic projects under the aegis of Śląskie Towarzystwo Muzyczne of which she is the founder and CEO. Since 2008 she has been an assistant professor at the Piano Department of the Katowice Academy of Music. Her teaching activities also include masterclasses at, among other venues, the Showa Academia Musicae in Tokyo, lectures at Japanese art universities and a DVD recording of works for children and young people as part of the teaching publications The Piano.
